O\u00f1ati has a Chocolate Interpretation Centre located where the old Orbea chocolate factory was, Kalebarria – 29 being the address. If you visit it, you will be taught our town\u2019s tradition of rich chocolate.<\/p>\n

What we will see<\/h3>\n

There are old chocolate pots, grinders, metates, moulds and stones that ground the cocoa. These objects, along with documents, transport the viewer to the 20th century. Posters, commercials, prints and photos with motives of cocoa or chocolate will make to those who enter this sweet world travel in time.<\/p>\n

A little history<\/h3>\n

The origins of the chocolate in O\u00f1ati can be traced back a long way, as shown by the cocoa maps and routes from the 18th century; the abundant documentation, films, books and recipes also prove the love that O\u00f1ati had towards this product. The imprint that chocolate has left in areas as distant as the cinema or sports is also recognised.
\nThe Centre\u2019s aim is, on the one hand, to remind old people of their past times, and on the other hand, to show the history of Maiztegui, Orbea, Loyola, Onena, Garaicoechea, Guereca and the only survivor of this local tradition to the younger generations.<\/p>\n

September to July<\/b>: in the morning, Monday to Saturday from 10:30 to 13:30. In the afternoon, Monday to Friday from 17:00 to 19:00.
